FAQ
Why should we sign up for the Infant and Child CPR & First Aid Workshop?
Investing a few hours in our workshop could be the best decision you make for your child’s well-being. Don’t wait until an emergency happens to wish you had the knowledge to act. Join us and take a proactive step toward ensuring your child’s safety.
Who will be teaching the Infant and Child CPR & First Aid Workshop?
This workshop is taught by experienced instructors right here from London, Ontario, who are partnered with the Canadian Red Cross, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, and Lifesaving Society. With over 40 collective years of experience in first aid, emergency response, search and rescue, and education, LMac and her team have seen it all. Covering a catchment area from Toronto to Windsor, Lake Erie to the Bruce Peninsula, they have been awarded #1 for Red Cross Training programs for Ontario’s Southwest Region (2018), and have averaged over 2000 certifications each year since the company opened in 1998.
Should I take this workshop while I'm pregnant or after my baby has been born?
You can take this workshop at any time that works for you! Workshop participants range from expecting parents (1st to late 3rd trimester), parents with newborns, parents with toddlers, babysitters, grandparents and other family members who care for children.
Some considerations if you’re thinking about joining us while pregnant:
- The skills you will learn can be used on brand new babies – so they are relevant from birth. Therefore, if you’re able, it is wise to take the workshop while you’re expecting and not occupied with all the postpartum things.
- The class will require you to get close to the ground to use the mannequins. So you may find it more comfortable to take the workshop in the 2nd or earlier 3rd trimester vs. right at 40 weeks!
If you join us after your baby is born, that is wonderful too! We welcome babies in arms (not yet walking) into our workshop space.
Little ones can need attention – and they deserve it! If you plan on coming after your baby is born, you may want to consider coming with your partner so at least one of you can take good notes if the other needs to attend to baby.
What course materials will be provided?
All course materials will be provided digitally. The reference manual will be emailed a few days before the workshop and it is highly recommended that you at least skim the material. No need to read the whole thing – but specific pages to review will be listed. There is also an excellent app that you will be sent.
What do I need to bring to the workshop?
After you sign up you’ll receive a welcome email confirming your registration. It will contain all the information you need to know, including what you should bring to the workshop.
Will I receive a certification upon completion?
As this workshop is an information only workshop for parents, there will be no certification provided upon completion. The information provided in this class is for personal use only.
The workshop appears to be full. Is there any way I can still attend?
Class size is limited based on our space. If the workshop is full, please contact us – hello@hesedbirth.com – to add your name to the cancellation list. We do hope to run the workshop several times per year every 3-4 months. So if you contact us to let us know you’re interested, then we can give you advanced notice when registration opens up for a future class.
